Gavin Goodman is an award-winning commercial and fine art photographer. He was named a 2021 Hasselblad Master in the Fine Art category and has spent the last 20 years honing his craft and original point of view as an image maker.
He began his career as a cinematographer in the local film industry before transitioning to still photography. Bringing with him a deep understanding of storytelling, lighting, and composition, he has worked on many prestigious advertising campaigns with respected agencies worldwide. However, his true passion lies in his personal work.
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Gavin’s fine art photography is influenced by the traditional African culture that surrounded him throughout his upbringing. While drawing from African aesthetics, he reinterprets these influences through a modern, minimalist approach, defined by soft pastel tones, balanced compositions, and a refined, contemporary aesthetic.
In addition to photography, Gavin has developed a unique AI-driven workflow, using AI as a conceptual foundation—often referencing his own photography. Each piece is then meticulously hand-painted and digitally refined, resulting in a cohesive, handcrafted finish that seamlessly aligns with his photographic work.

Il a commencé sa carrière en tant que directeur de la photographie dans l'industrie cinématographique locale avant de passer à la photographie fixe. Cependant, sa véritable passion réside dans son travail personnel.
Gavin est né et a grandi au Cap, en Afrique du Sud. Ses photographies d'art sont influencées par la culture africaine traditionnelle qui l'a entouré tout au long de son éducation. Tout en s'inspirant de l'esthétique africaine, il réinterprète ces influences par une approche moderne et minimaliste, définie par des tons pastel doux, des compositions équilibrées et une esthétique raffinée et contemporaine.
En plus de la photographie, Gavin a développé un flux de travail unique basé sur l'IA, utilisant l'IA comme base conceptuelle, en se référant souvent à ses propres photographies. Chaque pièce est ensuite méticuleusement peinte à la main et affinée numériquement, ce qui permet d'obtenir une finition cohésive et artisanale qui s'harmonise parfaitement avec son travail photographique.
