TCHINEZAN
FRANCK EZAN
Born in 1994 in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, Ezan lives and works in Cocody Abatta. After five years at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux- Arts d'Abidjan, he graduated with a Master 2 in painting in 2019.
Franck Ezan is an artist deeply committed to exploring the complexity of human identity. At the heart of his thinking is the absolute differentiation of our fingerprints, which serves as a starting point for questioning the notion of identity.
Having grown up alongside his twin brother, he was influenced from an early age by the duality of this unique relationship. The constant search for his own singularity within this twin relationship led him to question what makes each individual unique. Franck's personal history, marked by a childhood that was both tormented and happy, provides the inspiration for his artistic work.
His relationship with others, his deep-seated torments and, above all, his complex relationship with his twin brother, his true double in appearance, have shaped the artistic choices that have mapped out his career. For him, identity is an elusive concept, oscillating between the social sphere and the intimate.
The paradox of identity is that it is both singular and collective, influenced by elements such as beliefs, gender, citizenship, color, social class and culture. Franck Ezan sees himself as a witness to this contemporary quest for identity. His deeply thoughtful artistic work explores not only the artistic aspects of this question, but also the scientific dimensions linked to identity.
Thus, through his research on the "La Croisée des Chemins" series, Franck Ezan becomes an explorer of this complex intersection between similarity and difference, the intimate and the social, self-perception and the gaze of others, continuity and change. His art invites us to question what really defines our identity in a contemporary society in perpetual search of meaning.
CEDRIC TCHINAN
Artist Cedric Tchinan is a keen observer of the ever-changing world and the interactions that weave the bonds between human beings. This fascination with the dynamics of human relationships is evident in each of his creations, revealing his personal perception of these connections.
For Tchinan, the line is much more than a simple tracing on the canvas; it embodies the fragile bond that unites us to one another. Her expressive artistic style is sometimes reminiscent of a doodle, but it offers a striking visual effect that highlights her sensitivity and the profound aesthetics of her work.
Through his works, the artist questions the nature of our relationships with others, and the tireless quest for happiness. He invites us to contemplate the vast universe of the "WE" to which we all contribute and which, in turn, shapes us. This "WE" takes many forms: family, friends, neighbors, humanity as a whole. On Tchinan's vibrantly colored canvases, and within the arabesques of her continuous lines, scenes from everyday life come to life.
Everyone can identify with these sketched characters, recall a group of noisy, mischievous youngsters from the neighborhood, be carried away by the contagious laughter of children at play, or find themselves in the shade of a tree at a family gathering or among friends.
Tchinan's work is full of innocence, poetry and deep tenderness. The artist pursues her path with a smile on her lips and a contagious optimism that is transmitted in every creation. Her art is an ode to human bonds and the beauty that lies in life's simple moments.
